University of North Alabama: Bringing Alumni and Donor Stories to Life
Our focus: Publication Design and Layout
UNA Advancement connects alumni and donors to what’s happening on campus — and shows the real impact of giving — through their annual report and biannual magazines. When they needed someone to bring these stories to life visually (and sometimes in words), they turned to us for end-to-end design and creative support.
The Challenge
With no in-house designer, UNA Advancement needed a creative partner who could handle everything from concept to press — making sure each issue felt fresh, on-brand, and compelling for their alumni and donor audiences. They wanted publications that told their stories in a way that felt both professional and personal.
The Solution
We took on the full design process for each piece, collaborating closely with the Executive Directors of Media and Public Relations and Donor Relations to make sure every detail hit the mark. For each publication:
We manage multiple proof rounds, handled press-ready uploads, and worked directly with print vendors to ensure a smooth process;
Wove in custom illustrations for extra personality;
Lean into text-driven approaches, letting the stories take center stage; and
Contributed stories to each magazine, making sure the voice and visuals worked hand-in-hand.
For the annual report in particular, the custom infographic made complex donor data accessible and engaging for readers. Each publication was also delivered as a digital version, ready for UNA’s website.
Impact
These publications helped UNA Advancement keep alumni and donors connected with the university’s mission and progress. With every issue, they had a professional, visually engaging way to celebrate their community and show the tangible results of donor support.
